Summer is an exciting time for children at King of Glory. Take a look at our summer events for children.

King of Glory introduces God's wonderful faith world through Sonshine Kids for children 2 years old through kindergarten. Age appropriate classes are held on Sundays during the school year from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sessions include stories, crafts, games, and learning exercises.

Children in 1st–5th grade begin Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in The Gathering for an introduction to the weekly Bible story, skits, music, videos, and prayer. From there the children travel with Shepherds to grade-specific classrooms for a variety of learning activities until 10:30 a.m. During the 2011–2012 program year Faith Zone is exploring the stories of the people of God using The Story. Friends and visitors are always welcome to attend.

Tweens in Fourth and Fifth grade are a special group. Ready for new challenges and opportunities, Club Four Fivers meet monthly to grow together—as individuals and a group—through fellowship, study, and service. The Club Four Five year begins each August at Briarwood Retreat Center for the annual Hello/Goodbye Challenge course and swim party. The year ends in May with the annual Human Foosball Tournament vs. the 6th and 7th grade REVOLUTION youth. Monthly gatherings include a messy art night, shopping for books for charity using Sunday school offering money, board game night, and Lenten Spiritual practices.

Children are always welcome in worship. If parents prefer, our Nursery, a safe and loving place to grow, is available during Sunday worship from 8:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. for infants through kindergarten age. The Nursery is also available during most special events. Contact Rainey Smith for details. If you plan to use childcare please complete and return our Nursery Registration Form (27 kB PDF).

Faith Stepping Stones

These are times when a child "steps" from one developmental stage to the next. As they step forward physically, mentally, emotionally, and educationally, our goal is that they step forward spiritually as well. There are eight Faith Stepping Stones in King of Glory's Children and Youth Ministries.

Each Faith Stepping Stone includes four elements:

  • Naming - we identify and recognize the event to give it holy significance.
  • Equipping - adults and children (as they are able) learn stories, skills, and habits that encourage growth in faith appropriate to the event.
  • Celebrating - in worship, community, and home—through both liturgy and time spent together—the congregation recognizes the child's new faith stage.
  • Gifting - the child receives a tangible symbol of the event as a reminder of its holy significance.
