Comfort All My People
Sunday, December 08, 2019, 12:15 PM - 2:30 PM
Advent is about preparing our hearts to again receive the gift of God Incarnate in Jesus. As we remember that Baby Jesus first found refuge in a stable and soon thereafter fled as a refugee to Egypt, we will come together for 2 onsite service projects to comfort the homeless and those resettling their homes. All ages are encouraged to gather together around a potluck meal and learn about and take action to care and comfort to those around us.
The event will begin with a shared meal immediately following 11:00 worship. The meal main dish will be catered by Woody's BBQ and includes brisket, chicken and sausage, rolls, pickles and BBQ sauce. If you have dietary restrictions, please plan to bring your own lunch.
Participants will bring salads, sides & desserts to share potluck style. A – G: salads, H – Q: sides, R – Z: desserts. Please bring your food to the Activity Center prior to 11:00 worship.
Following the meal, we will engage in onsite service projects to comfort homeless people and people resettling their homes. Ages 4 and up can participate. Childcare for infant through Kindergarten will be provided.
NOTE ABOUT CHILDREN: During the Advent Community Event, children participating in the Christmas play will have their dress rehearsal. Parents/Guardians should bring their child to the Activity Center, eat with their child, and then play staff will escort them to the play practice location.
