Introducing our newest Ministry Partner: Dobie Elementary

08.07.19

Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Dobie Primary will serve the entire Richardson school district in educating 3 and 4 year olds in all-day pre-Kindergarten.  This change necessitates a larger number of staff members and many volunteers.

The following are needs that King of Glory members could fulfill — some flexible and some weekly.  Because of the changes to the school structure (educating only pre-K and pre-K hours going from half day to full day), the school administration may identify additional volunteer needs once the school term begins.

    Flexible days and times:

    1. Reading to pairs of children - beginning in October
    2. Reading to classes - beginning in October
    3. Re-shelving books in the library
    4. Assisting with the Book Fair - fall and spring - setting up and/or working during the event
    5. Tending to plants within the office area

Weekly needs - a group of people could sign-up to do these activities and work out a schedule among themselves:

    1. A weekly washing of sheets on a specific day - anytime between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
    2. Weekly stuffing of envelopes for items sent to parents - Tuesday pm or Wednesday am

To volunteer for any of the above first sign up through the RISD website, then, once you have been approved, contact Vickie Farias, volunteer coordinator, at Dobie Primary at 469-593-4100.

All volunteers must be vetted through the RISD website.  http://www.risd.org.   Click on Volunteer on Your Campus link on the lower right side of the main page; be sure to specify Dobie Primary School so that Dobie will know that you have been vetted.

Please address any questions to or to Janet Follstaedt at 214/536-8138.
