SUNDAYS AT 9:45 AM
July 12- August 30
Our national conversation is rife with conflict, anger, and pain. As Christians, we are called to be leaven and light in movements of cultural, political, and economic change. These are the arenas in which Christians exercise their discipleship.
What we can do in everyday settings like families, neighborhoods, classrooms, congregations and workplaces to resist divide-and-conquer politics and restore a government "of the people, by the people, for the people”
Join us for an 8-week Summer Education class based on Parker Palmer’s book Healing the Heart of Democracy.
Together we will explore five "habits of the heart" that can help us restore democracy's foundations as we nurture them in ourselves and each other:
• An understanding that we are all in this together.
• An appreciation of the value of "otherness"
• An ability to hold tension in life-giving ways
• A sense of personal voice and agency
• A capacity to create community
Teaching team includes Pastor Don Berg, Kathy Bean, Russell Burton, Pastor Jim Graeser, Pastor Jon Lee, David Pederson, Dan Reckmeyer, and Pastor Beth Taylor.
