Summer Sunday Opportunities

June 2 — June 23
Jesus and Harley Davidson Changed My Life

Evangelism is story-telling, experience-conveying and self-sharing. Evangelism isn’t Biblical arguing, proof-texting, or eloquent case-making.  In the Great Commission, Jesus tells us to go make disciples rather than go make church members. Please join Pr. Jim and learn about inviting people to relationship with Jesus rather than inviting people to “church.”  The class is perfect for those who would like tools to help them share their faith more openly.

June 2  “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life” vs “I am a set of beliefs, and traditions, and arguments.”  Jesus is an experience and a relationship. Inviting people to Jesus is very different from inviting people to church.

June 9   “I Love to tell the Story.”  What is story language?  Why are we natural story-tellers but not natural evangelists?  Jesus welcomes stories and questions—so should we.

June 16  “I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord.”  What is your personal faith statement?  What is your elevator speech about who Jesus is to you? What obstacles keep us from telling our story?

June 23   “To be and to make followers of Christ who boldly share the grace of God with the world.”  Lynn Sullivan, King of Glory’s Director for Communications, outlines King of Glory’s approach to telling our experience of Jesus.

June 30 — August 11
Interrupting Silence

How can God’s faithful people have a voice in the pressing concerns of our society — poverty, racism, environmental protection?  The Bible is filled with stories where marginalized people break repressive silence and speak against it. Join us as we examine these stories and consider situations in our lives where we need to stand up, speak out and act for justice.

We will spend seven-weeks studying the book Interrupting Silence: God's Command to Speak Out by Walter Brueggemann.  Class participants are encouraged to purchase the book on Amazon or at Half Price Books, which has a limited number of copies. This class is sponsored by King of Glory’s Rebels With a Cause.

Teaching team includes Kathy Bean, Pastor Don Berg, Judy Berg, Carolyn Knudsen, Pastor Jon Lee, David Pederson and Ron Powell.
Rebels with a Cause is a movement of people who are engaged in addressing issues of injustice through education, service and advocacy.  Rebels with a Cause envisions KOG as a vehicle to promote awareness of issues of injustice and offer opportunities for people to move into action.
