As a grace-filled people, King of Glory Lutheran Church strives to share God's grace with others , caring for one another and our neighbors so that our actions and relationships share the joy of God's love with all people. We set aside several weekends each year to focus on serving together as a congregation.

BREAKFAST AT CATHEDRAL OF HOPE

Project Leader:  Paul Jentz,   
Time:  7:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9
Participants:  15 Max                              Ages:  16+
Location:  Meet at Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Dallas 75224

Saturday mornings, Cathedral of Hope serves 300+ people a hot, restaurant-style breakfast to those living with food insecurity. Volunteers arrive at 7am to set up and they leave after everything is cleaned up. When you arrive at CoH, face the playground to the left side of the building and the last door of the church is where volunteers enter. There will be a door bell on the door. TEXAS RAMP PROJECT - DALLAS RAMPS

Participants:  15 Max                              Ages:  16+
Location:  Meet at ramp building location, address to be provided

Volunteers will have the opportunity to provide freedom to home­bound residents by building and installing ramps in various loca­tions in the Dallas area. The necessary materials will need to be ordered in advance, so please register up by November 4, 2023. More information about the project and additional volunteer opportunities can be found on their website.

NORTH DALLAS SHARED MINISTRIES

Location:  Meet at NDSM, 2875 Merrell Rd, Dallas 75229

Volunteers will begin with a tour of North Dallas Shared Ministries' facilities, learning about the organization's mission and impact. Following the tour, volunteers will assist with various tasks in the Food Pantry and Clothing Locker.

NICU BLANKETS

Project Leader:  Debbie Armstrong,  
Time:  4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9
Participants:  20 Max                             Ages: 9+
Location:  King of Glory, Room LL17 (lower level Project Room)

Volunteers will craft flannel receiving blankets for the infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Parkland Hospital. Tasks include measuring, cutting, pressing, and sewing. Please bring irons, ironing boards, white cotton thread, sewing shears, and sewing machines. 

Volunteers are also needed prior to the event to cut out the blanket squares and press them in preparation for sewing.

Donations Needed: Baby flannel which will be cut into 32"x 32" squares.

HOMEBOUND COMMUNION BAGS

Our children will decorate Homebound Communion Bags, spreading joy and connection to those receiving communion at home through our pastors and Care Ministries. No registration necessary! 

 
 
 
IN THE CITY FOR GOOD

Volunteers will assemble 1,000 hygiene packs that will be distributed by In the City for Good at the South Dallas Food Pantry. These items are distributed weekly by the Miles of Freedom organization, a community partner of In The City For Good.

REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT MINISTRY

Volunteers will assemble bicycles and furniture items, as well as rearrange storage of housewares in our storage area.
